Vol. 107 No. 14

Electricity (Supply) (Amendment) Bill, 1985: Motion for Earlier Signature.

I move:

That, pursuant to subsection 2º of section 2 of Article 25 of the Constitution, Seanad Éireann concurs with the Government in a request to the President to sign the Electricity (Supply) (Amendment) Bill, 1985, on a date which is earlier than the fifth day after the date on which the Bill shall have been presented to him.

Reference has already been made to the severe handicap to the ESB of this provision not being part of the law and, accordingly, the Government have recommended that the President be asked to sign the Bill earlier than would ordinarily be appropriate.

Question put and agreed to.
