Seanad Éireann debate -
Thursday, 19 Jun 1986

Vol. 113 No. 9

Business of Seanad.

I would like to recall for the benefit of Senators when we made the Order of Business this morning we indicated that if the legislation finished before 5 p.m. we would resume discussion of the Garda Síochána (Complaints) Bill, 1985 and, if further time was available, of the Air Pollution Bill. I pointed out at that time that in neither instance would the Minister be available to reply to the debate but that it would assist the House in moving along the business if some time were to be devoted to these Bills. I assure Senators that note will be taken of anything they wish to contribute during the discussion between now and 5 o'clock and that the Minister responsible in each case will have an opportunity of replying in person to the points raised.

I thank the Minister of State, Deputy Nealon, for kindly agreeing to remain on so that nobody is disturbed by a vacancy in the ministerial chair.
