Vol. 115 No. 1

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Items Nos. 1, 2 and 4 on today's Order Paper. Item No. 1 is the resumption of Committee Stage of the Control of Clinical Trials Bill, 1986. It has already been debated to some extent but there are still a large number of amendments. It is a question for the House — I know there will be difficulties in view of the Dáil division — but I do think that if this is not completed by 6.30 p.m. the House should seriously consider continuing the debate after 8 p.m. with the hope of fininshing by 10 p.m. Item No. 2 is the Committee Stage of the Air Pollution Bill and it is being ordered merely in case there was a very quick conclusion to the Control of Clinical Trials Bill. There would be no suggestion of debating it after 8 p.m. Item No. 4 which is a Private Members' Bill should be taken from 6.30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Cathaoirleach has already covered one of the matters which I had intended to raise. I would appreciate his further guidance in relation to what might be the appropriate form for addressing the public disquiet that is so widespread following news of the sale of arms by the United States to Iran and the further use of this money for the sponsoring of international terrorism in Nicaragua.

I have notice from Senator Robb in relation to that and I will be giving a decision on it at 3 o'clock.

Order of Business agreed to.
