Seanad Éireann debate -

Vol. 115 No. 11

Courts (No. 3) Bill, 1986: Motion for Earlier Signature.

I move:

That, pursuant to subsection 2º of section 2 of Article 25 of the Constitution, Seanad Éireann concurs with the Government in a request to the President to sign the Courts (No. 3) Bill, 1986, on a date which is earlier than the fifth day after the date on which the Bill shall have been presented to him.

This is the early signature Motion in connection with the Courts Bill which was passed earlier today. Senators are, of course, aware that this is an emergency measure and accordingly it is desirable that it should come into effect as soon as possible. The proper constitutional requirements for the early signature Motion have been complied with.

Question put and agreed to.
