Vol. 122 No. 10

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Phil Hogan that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to review the staffing levels immediately at St. John's infants school, Kilkenny, to alleviate the present pupil-teacher ratio difficulties.

I also received notice from Senator Nuala Fennell of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Social Welfare to clarify the position in relation to the spouses dental scheme and to indicate the action he intends to take to remedy the breakdown in the scheme.

I also received notice from Senator John Connor of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to clarify the position on the future development of second level education in Ballaghadereen, County Roscommon.

I also received notice from Senator David Norris on the following matter:

The need, especially in the light of recent tragic events, for the Minister for Justice to consider urgently the immediate opening of the facilities at Wheatfield Detention Centre.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Hogan, Fennell, Connor and Norris as suitable for discussion. I have selected the matter raised by Senator Hogan and it will be taken from 8 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. Senators Fennell, Connor and Norris may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
