I have to say that I think this is a very heavy penalty for a Senator——

I am not going to allow further discussion on the matter. I am asking the Senator to resume his seat.

You have not quoted any Standing Order.

As Cathaoirleach, I have requested Senator Murphy to resume his seat and discontinue raising a matter that has already been decided by this House.

I think there is a principle at stake here as to whether a Senator can make a legitimate protest.

I am requesting the Senator to desist.

I am afraid the principle is so important that I cannot desist in this case. It is a vitally important principle.

I am requesting the Senator to resume his seat.

I should like what Senator Ross requested in the first place: a promise from the Cathaoirleach of a statement of political attitudes. We are entitled to a statement from the Cathaoirleach on his political attitude.

I am requesting the Senator to resume his seat.

I should like the Cathaoirleach——

I am asking the Leader of the House to name the Senator.

I name Senator Murphy.

The question is: "That Senator Murphy be suspended from the service of the Seanad."
