Seanad Éireann debate -
Wednesday, 4 Mar 1992

Vol. 131 No. 12

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Fitzgerald that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

To ask the Minister for Health to provide extra funding to the Southern Health Board for the staffing of a dialysis unit in Tralee General Hospital.

I also received notice from Senator Neville of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice to recognise and deal with the urban deprivation and absence of opportunity in life which is contributing to the high levels of urban crime in sections of our cities and towns.

I also received notice from Senator Doyle of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to provide funds for the provision of permanent residential accommodation for the old and infirm of Wexford town and surrounding area.

I also received notice from Senator Brendan Ryan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Social Welfare to clarify, in the light of recent reports, the interpretation by his Department of the requirement that recipients of unemployment assistance and unemployment benefit be genuinely seeking work.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Fitzgerald, Neville, Doyle and Ryan as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Fitzgerald's matter and it will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Neville, Doyle and Ryan may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
