Seanad Éireann debate -
Thursday, 5 Mar 1992

Vol. 131 No. 13

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Neville that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice to recognise and deal with the urban deprivation and absence of life opportunity which is contributing to the high levels of urban crime in sections of our cities and towns.

I also received notice from Senator Seán Byrne of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Agriculture and Food to put into effect the Abattoirs Regulations 1989 relating to meat inspections and the charging of fees as Tipperary South Riding and all other county councils have had to meet the cost of the employment of a veterinary officer from their own scarce resources.

I also received notice from Senator Hugh Byrne of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Finance to outline his proposals on the proposed national coastal park for south Wexford.

I also received notice from Senator Jackman of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications to outline her plans for the retention of the Shannon stopover.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Neville, Seán Byrne, Hugh Byrne and Jackman as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Neville's matter, and it will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Seán Byrne, Hugh Byrne and Senator Jackman may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
