Vol. 132 No. 12

Death of Former Minister. - Request under Standing Order 29.

May I refer to a request by Senator Pól Ó Foighil on a matter of urgent public importance? I have notice of a motion under Standing Order 29 from Senator Ó Foighil. I call on Senator Ó Foighil to give notice of the motion before I give my ruling.

Tá an rún seo os comhair an Tí fíor-thábhachtach dom go pearsanta agus do mhuintir na hÉireann i gcoitinne. Níl mé in ann díospóireacht phroifisiúnta a chur ar bun sa Teach seo ceal córas aistriúcháin Gaeilge/Béarla le fáil do gach Bille a chuirtear os mo chomhair. Is mian liom mar sin iarratas a dhéanamh, a Chathaoirligh, go dtabharfaí cead dom inniu an cheist seo a phlé i leith an Bhille Toghcháin (Uimh. 2), 1991, atá le plé againn anois. Tá litir agam ón gCathaoirleach agus ón Choiste Imeachtaí agus Pribhléidí ag rá go mbeadh an Bille le fáil agam i nGaeilge, ach níl sé agam anois. Chuir mé leasuithe ar fáil i nGaeilge agus cuireadh Béarla orthu. Níl tada agam sa Ghaeilge——

As you probably know, Senator, you are not required at this point to make a speech but merely to request to move the Adjournment.

Tá mé ag iarraidh go dtabharfaí cead dom an cheist a phlé.

I have given careful consideration to the matter you have raised. I regret I cannot consider it to be a matter contemplated by Standing Order 29 and therefore I have to rule it out of order.

Is trua liom gur mar sin atá sé agus go gcaithfidh mé céimeanna eile a thógáil.
