Vol. 133 No. 7

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Éamon Ó Cuív that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment to sanction the work on the group water scheme in Béal an Daingin, County Galway.

I also received notice from Senator Costello of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Labour to ensure that adequate funding is provided for all social employment schemes.

I also received notice from Senator Ross on the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice to issue guidelines to local authorities regarding the adoption and rescinding of resolutions regarding the licensing of amusement halls.

I also received notice from Senator Hederman of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment to make the necessary regulations to provide traffic signs for cycling facilities as a matter of urgency.

I also received notice from Senator Neville of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment to confirm that the N69, between Limerick and Tarbert is being upgraded to a national primary route; when this will take place; and the need for an urgent programme of works to improve this road.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Ó Cuív, Costello, Ross and Hederman as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senators Ó Cuív and Costello's matter and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Ross and Hederman may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.

I regret that I have had to rule the matter raised by Senator Neville as not suitable for discussion on the Adjournment on the grounds of lack of ministerial responsibility.
