Vol. 133 No. 18

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Haughey that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications to report on the tourist season to date; and, in particular, to comment on the difficulties being experienced in the car hire industry.

I also received notice from Senator Neville of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to sanction the appointment of a cardiologist at Limerick Regional Hospital.

I also received notice from Senator Costello of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Agriculture and Food to ensure that the lower prices for lamb being received by farmers at present are reflected in the cost of lamb to the consumer in shops, supermarkets and restaurants.

I also received notice from Senator Ó Cuív of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Social Welfare to consider giving pensioners on the Aran Islands limited access to free travel on Aer Árainn during the winter months when travelling by sea is unsuitable for older people.

I also received notice from Senator Upton of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment to make regulations to ensure the system of environmental impact assessments complies with European law.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Haughey, Neville, Costello, Ó Cuív and Upton as suitable for discussion on the Adjourment. I have selected Senators Haughey's and Neville's matters and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Costello, Ó Cuív and Upton may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
