Wednesday, 31 Mar 1993

Vol. 135 No. 11

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Reynolds that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry to establish an office of his Department in Carrick-on-Shannon, County Leitrim to deal with headage grants and other agricultural matters.

I have received notice from Senator Sherlock of the following matter:

The urgent need to proceed with reconstruction plans for Kilavullen National School, County Cork, in view of the threat to the health and safety of pupils and teachers arising from the present conditions.

I have also received notice from Senator Daly of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Enterprise and Employment to outline the number of EC Programmes where funding is available for job creation and other employment related schemes, and if he has examined the present situation with a view to getting the maximum financial draw down and the plans he has to make the programmes more widely available throughout local communities.

I have received notice from Senator O'Toole of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to establish on an experimental or pilot basis a job sharing scheme for teachers.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Reynolds, Sherlock, Daly and O'Toole as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Reynolds' and Senator Sherlock's matters and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senator Daly and Senator O'Toole may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
