Statistics Bill, 1993: Report and Final Stages.

Government amendment No. 1:
In page 14, to delete all words from and including "from" in line 44 down to and including "section 29" in line 46 and substitute "from carrying out his duties as allowed under section 29".

We have discussed this amendment and I am putting it to the House for consideration.

I thank the Minister of State for acceding to the views of all sides of the House on this matter. The proposed wording will meet the concerns of Members.

I thank the Cathaoirleach and the Members for their co-operation and interest in the Bill. It is my first time to bring a Bill to the House and I would like to return. I thank the Members for their courtesy.

I thank the Minister of State for the open and courteous way he has discussed this Bill and for accepting the amendment, which reflects the views of all sides of the House. We will welcome him again when he decides to return to this House with legislation.

I thank the Minister for initiating this Bill in the House. We look forward to other Bills from his Department.
