Vol. 137 No. 11

Report of the Standing Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills on the Social Welfare (Consolidation) Bill, 1993: Motion.

This is a technical motion to enable the report and the proceedings to be printed. A formal proposal from Senator Roche is required. Senator Roche may speak for a minute or two.

I move:

That the report and proceedings of the Standing Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills on the Social Welfare Bill, 1993 be printed.

As Members will know, the Social Welfare (Consolidation) Bill, 1993, is very comprehensive. It was agreed in record time by the Standing Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills. It is a tribute to the drafters that there are so few changes. It brings together the body of social welfare legislation going back over a number of years and will be of great assistance not just to the officials who administer the Social Welfare Acts but to those of us who try to assist our constituents.

Question put and agreed to.
