Seanad Éireann debate -
Wednesday, 25 May 1994

Vol. 140 No. 12

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Cosgrave and Senator Ross that on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, they propose to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Foreign Affairs to call for an emergency session of the United Nations Commission on Human Rights to take immediate action on the genocide in Rwanda.

I have also received notice from Senator Neville of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to introduce a suicide prevention programme.

I regard the matters raised as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. I understand that Senator Ross and Senator Cosgrave will share their time.

I have been asked by Senator Manning, Senator O'Toole and others for a list of the legislative programme between now and the summer recess. I will circulate this after we have dealt with the Order of Business.

It is intended to deal with the Landlord and Tenant Bill, the National Monuments (Amendment) Bill, the Trade and Marketing Promotion (Amendment) Bill, the Consumer Credit Bill, the Irish Horse Racing Industry Bill, the Solicitors (Amendment) Bill, the Family Law Bill, the Fisheries (Amendment) Bill, An Bord Bia, the Voluntary Health Insurance Bill, the Investments and Partnerships Bill, the National Heritage Council Bill and the Casual Trading Bill. One or two other Bills may be initiated between now and the summer as well so, as the House will realise, we have a very busy session ahead of us between now and the summer recess.
