Wednesday, 29 Nov 1995

Vol. 145 No. 8

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Kelleher that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to provide adequate resources for the Southern Health Board to ensure proper security at psychiatric hospitals.

I have also received notice from Senator Cosgrave on the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Finance to examine the threshold levels of stamp duty on the transfer of property having regard to raising house prices.

I have also received notice from Senator Mulcahy on the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to make a statement in relation to the proposed physical education hall for St. Macdara's community college, Templeogue, given that the children attending this school have been deprived of proper physical education facilities and given that the promised funding for the design and planning phase of this hall, announced on 6 April 1995, has not as yet been forthcoming.

I have also received notice from Senator Henry on the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to publish the review of services to people with physical and sensory disability which was commissioned over three years ago.

I have also received notice from Senator Neville on the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Social Welfare to change the eligibility criteria for payment of unemployment benefit and unemployment assistance to non-regular dockers in Foynes Harbour, County Limerick.

I regard the matters raised as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Kelleher's and Senator Cosgrave's matters and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. The other Senators may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
