Wednesday, 9 Oct 1996

Vol. 148 No. 14

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Henry that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, she proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health, in the absence of the promised Mental Health Act, to outline the recommendations in the recent report by the inspector of mental hospitals, that have been implemented.

I have also received notice from Senator Daly of the following matter:

To ask the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he is aware of the acute problems being experienced by small milk producers; and the action he proposes to take to alleviate this situation.

I have also received notice from Senator Norris of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to use his position as Chair of the European Union Council of Health Ministers to ensure the rapid accessibility of the latest drug and drug combinations for the treatment of AIDS for all citizens of the European Union.

I have also received notice from Senator Cosgrave of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Enterprise and Employment to request the Director of Consumer Affairs to carry out an investigation into the air travel promotions being offered by certain retailers.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Henry's and Senator Daly's matters and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. The other Senators may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
