Seanad Éireann debate -
Wednesday, 23 Oct 1996

Vol. 148 No. 19

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Mullooly that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter.

The need for the Minister for the Environment to amend Part IV of the Local Government (Planning and Development) Regulations, 1994 (S.I. No.86 of 1994) so as to give discretion to a planning authority in relation to the plans, drawings and maps which may accompany a planning application in any case where the development to which such planning application refers is deemed not to be of a substantial nature.

I have also received notice from Senator Hayes of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Foreign Affairs to include in the Intergovernmental Conference discussions a complete and meaningful section concerning the rights of young people in the European Union, and that such a commitment be included in the next Treaty of the European Union which is presently under discussion.

I have also received notice from Senator Mooney of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Enterprise and Employment to ensure that elected councillors who are members of county enterprise boards receive out of pocket expenses for their attendance at meetings of the respective boards similar to other members of such boards.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment and I have selected Senators Mullooly's and Hayes' matters and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senator Mooney may give notice on another day of the matters which he wishes to raise.
