Vol. 157 No. 9

Business of Seanad.

An Leas-Chathaoirleach

I have notice from Senator Tom Hayes that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Science to grant the request made by the board of management of Cappawhite national school, County Tipperary, for an extension to the school and the details of the timeframe that will be involved.

I have also received notice from Senator Mooney of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform to consider the introduction of a quota system for a stated number of refugees on an annual basis as a similar quota system operates in other EU countries.

I have also received notice from Senator O'Meara of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment and Local Government to approve the Terryglass sewerage scheme as part of the Lough Derg submission for EU funds in order to ensure that the badly needed scheme begins in 1999.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senators Hayes' and Mooney's matters and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senator O'Meara may give notice on another day of the matter she wishes to raise.
