Seanad Éireann debate -
Wednesday, 30 Jun 1999

Vol. 160 No. 1

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Gallagher that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Science to approve an application by Tullamore Youth Initiative for financial support to initiate a community youth project for disadvantaged young people in the Tullamore area, County Offaly.

I have also received notice from Senator Ridge of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children to provide the necessary funding to the Centre for Independent Living to restore the Vantastic service which enables people with disabilities to travel to and from their place of work. The service has been discontinued since 9 June due to lack of money to pay insurance.

I regard the matter raised by Senator Gallagher as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment and it will be taken at the conclusion of business. I regret I have to disallow Senator Ridge's matter as the Minister for Health and Children has no official responsibility in this matter.
