Seanad Éireann debate -
Wednesday, 3 Oct 2001

Vol. 168 No. 2

Business of Seanad.

I have received notice from Senator Henry that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, she proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Foreign Affairs to give a commitment that, as chairman of the UN Security Council, he will prioritise the introduction of a verification protocol to the UN Bacteriological and Toxin Weapons Convention.

I have also received notice from Senator O'Toole of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources to ensure that the crews on ships visiting our ports, flying the flag of convenience, have fair and reasonable pay and conditions.

I have also received notice from Senator Taylor-Quinn of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Science to review his Department's decision to provide an extension to St. Joseph's secondary school, Tulla, County Clare, with a view to sanctioning a new school on a greenfield site as recommended by two feasibility studies carried out by his Department in November 2000 and March 2001.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment and they will be taken at the conclusion of business.
