Vol. 169 No. 8

Business of Seanad.

I have received notice from Senator Connor that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Science to indicate the current status of the application by Ballyleague national school, County Roscommon, for grant assistance to provide necessary improvements.

I have also received notice from Senator Norris of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform to make provision for the retention of nine child care workers, three project workers, a receptionist and a personal assistant at Mountjoy prison visitors centre.

I have also received notice from Senator Quinn of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform to inform this House of the outcome of the review of the scheme for naturalisation arising from investment which was instituted by him in September 1997 and which he informed the House on 4 March 1998 "will be determined by Government shortly".

I have also received notice from Senator Taylor-Quinn of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Science to outline the background to the recent decision taken by his Department to provide an extension to St. Joseph's secondary school, Tulla, County Clare, rather than a new school on a greenfield site.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected the matters raised by Senators Connor, Norris and Quinn, and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senator Taylor-Quinn may give notice on another day of the matter she wishes to raise.
