Order of Business. - Official Languages (Equality) Bill, 2002: Order for Second Stage.
Bill entitled an Act to promote respect for Irish and English as the official languages of the State, to promote equality of status and equal rights and privileges as to their use in particular with respect to their use in parliamentary proceedings, in Acts of the Oireachtas, in the administration of Justice, in communicating with or providing services to the public and in carrying out the work of public bodies, to set out the powers and functions of such bodies with respect to the official languages of the State, to provide for the independent review both of the exercise of those functions and of the operation of this Act generally and, for those purposes, to provide for the establishment of the Office of the Official Languages Commissioner and to define its functions, to provide for the publication by the Commissioner of certain information relevant to the purposes of this Act, and to provide for related matters.
Is it the intention to do with this Bill what we did with the last Bill, namely, to take all Stages today? Can I be assured that only Second Stage will be taken today?
That is my understanding.

It was agreed on the Order of Business that Second Stage would be taken today. At the end of Second Stage the Chair must ask when it is proposed to take Committee Stage.
