Business of Seanad.

I have received noticed from the Senator Henry that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, she proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children to report on the progress, if any, made in implementing the recommendations of the expert group on midwifery and children's nursing education.

I have also received notice from Senator Feeney of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Finance to outline the recent changes to taxation policy regarding the taxation of expenses for members of boards of governors and VECs who sit on interview panels.

I have also received notice from Senator Morrissey of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to outline the implications of the recent crisis at Irish Ferries for labour force protection and relevant national and European legislation and the steps he intends to take to ensure that all workers have adequate protection from sharp labour practices, bullying and intimidation in the workplace.

I have also received notice from Senator Bannon of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Arts, Sports and Tourism to clarify the position with regard to funding of genealogical projects by the Irish Genealogical Project, IGP, as funding of projects, other than its own, seems not to be within the remit of the IGP, precluding all other projects and affecting a situation which is adverse to the advancement of Irish genealogy as a whole.

I have also received notice from Senator Dooley of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children to outline a timescale for upgrading the ambulance service at Scarriff, County Clare, and the establishment of an ambulance service at Shannon, County Clare.

I have also received notice from Senator Brennan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government to give an up-to-date report on the Adare-Patrickswell sewerage scheme in County Limerick and the preparation of contract documents.

I have also received notice from Senator Jim Walsh of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Transport to outline the plans being developed by the NRA to provide amelioration of the current serious traffic delays and congestion on the N25 at New Ross, County Wexford.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Henry, Feeney, Morrissey, Bannon, Dooley and Brennan as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected the matters raised by Senators Henry, Feeney and Morrissey and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. SenatorsBannon, Dooley and Brennan may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise. I regret I have had to rule out of order the matter raised by Senator Jim Walsh as the Minister has no official responsibility in the matter.
