Vol. 182 No. 24

Business of Seanad.

I have received notice from Senator Tuffy that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, she proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Transport to provide an update on the urgent need to bring in legislative safety requirements for trucks; to request local authorities to introduce traffic management measures that will ensure safer traffic patterns involving trucks; to provide an update on the total number of fatal accidents on our roads so far this year, including those involving pedestrians; to outline the number of those accidents that included trucks or HGVs; and to provide general statistics for trucks on our roads as a percentage of overall traffic.

I regard the matter raised by the Senator as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment and it will be taken at the conclusion of business.
