Vol. 187 No. 12

Markets in Financial Instruments and Miscellaneous Provisions Bill 2007: Motion for Earlier Signature.

I indicated earlier I would a move motion that would be provided on a supplemental Order Paper. I move:

"That pursuant to subsection 2° of section 2 of Article 25 of the Constitution, Seanad Éireann concurs with the Government in a request to the Commission constituted as provided in section 2 of Article 14 of the Constitution to sign the Markets in Financial Instruments and Miscellaneous Provisions Bill 2007 on a date which is earlier than the fifth day after the date on which the Bill shall have been presented to it."

Is that agreed?

On a point of order, am I correct that the Green Party Members, Senators Boyle and De Búrca, did not vote on the earlier division on section 16 of this legislation?

(Interruptions).

The Greens sat down for Ireland and gave up Woods's payments and uncivil partnerships.

Is there disagreement in Government on this?

Senator Fitzgerald is being mischievous.

Senator Fitzgerald is not making a point of order.

Is there any collective responsibility within the Government?

The Green Party Members were missing when they were needed.

Where is the collective responsibility?

They were missing in action.

(Interruptions).

Senator Fitzgerald has not raised a point of order. Is the motion agreed?

The withering Greens.

Question put and declared carried.

When is it proposed to sit again?

Tomorrow at 10.30 a.m.
