Vol. 189 No. 7

Business of Seanad.

I have received notice from Senator Jerry Buttimer that, on the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children to ensure the new accident and emergency unit at Mercy Hospital, Cork, is fully staffed and open 24 hours a day without further delay.

I have also received notice from Senator Cecilia Keaveney of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Arts, Sports and Tourism to press for the launch and funding of the report on the sub-committee on arts in education under the Arts Council which relates to the Departments of Arts, Sports and Tourism and Education and Science.

I have also received notice from Senator Brian Ó Domhnaill of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform to consider issuing an apology to the families of the people killed in the Ballymanus Mine Disaster prior to its 65th anniversary 9 May 2008.

I have also received notice from Senator Joe O'Reilly of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Science to give final approval for the immediate construction of a new primary school at St. Mary's, Virginia, County Cavan, as a necessary response to long term chronic overcrowding of existing buildings and prefabs.

I regard the matters raised by Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected the matters raised by Senators Buttimer, Keaveney and Ó Domhnaill and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senator O'Reilly may give notice on another day of the matter he wishes to raise.
