Seanad Éireann debate -
Thursday, 1 May 2008

Vol. 189 No. 10

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Pearse Doherty that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Science to allow the practice of tumoideachas to continue in gaelscoileanna throughout the State as is current practice in Northern Ireland and to carry out more research on the topic.

I have also received notice from Senator Cecilia Keaveney of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government to review the control of dogs regulations to ensure the identified ten breeds of dog will not be facilitated to roam freely due to a gap in the definition of what is a public place, that is, when they must be on a short lead and muzzled.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Pearse Doherty and Cecilia Keaveney as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment and they will be taken at the conclusion of business.
