Vol. 196 No. 12

Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) and Ministerial and Parliamentary Offices Bill 2009: Committee and Remaining Stages.

Sections 1 to 6, inclusive, agreed to.
Title agreed to.
Bill reported without amendment.

When is it proposed to take Report Stage?

Question proposed: "That the Bill be received for final consideration and passed."

Are any amendments due to be tabled in the Dáil?

I wish to clarify a point I made in the course of my Second Stage speech. I understand it may be the intention of the Minister when the Bill goes to the Dáil to bring in an amendment of an enabling character to deal with the issue of parliamentary allowances where agreement would be reached between the Minister and the Houses of the Oireachtas Commission. Should that be the case, the Bill will have to come back to this House next week. I am clarifying this point for the sake of completeness and transparency. I take this opportunity to thank Members for their assistance in carrying the Bill thus far. As I said, it may come back to them next week.

I thank the Minister of State for that clarification.

Question put and agreed to.

When is it proposed to sit again?

Tomorrow at 10.30 a.m.
