Vol. 199 No. 8

Social Welfare and Pensions (No. 2) Bill 2009: Motion for Earlier Signature.

I move:

That, pursuant to subsection 2° of section 2 of Article 25 of the Constitution, Seanad Éireann concurs with the Government in a request to the President to sign the Social Welfare and Pensions (No. 2) Bill 2009 on a date which is earlier than the fifth day after the date on which the Bill shall have been presented to her.

Question put and declared carried.

When is it proposed to sit again?

On a point of order, the carry on of Deputy Buttimer in the House on a regular basis cannot be tolerated by anybody.

That is not a point of order. We are not discussing that matter now.

The Members opposite started cheering. Senator Ellis may laugh, but he has just voted against the ordinary people of Ireland. Shame on him.

When is it proposed to sit again?

At 10.30 a.m. today.

The Seanad adjourned at 12.10 a.m. until 10.30 a.m. on Thursday, 17 December 2009.
