Vol. 216 No. 3

Business of Seanad

There is a lot of map reading going on. I have notice from Senator Trevor Ó Clochartaigh that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources to clarify if, during the development of the Corrib gas field and other fields off the west coast, environmental impact studies had taken account of the possibility of seismic activity such as occurred off the coast of Mayo recently; if this was taken into consideration in planning the pipeline and ancillary developments; and if there is any intention to carry out such a study.

I have also received notice from Senator Brian Ó Domhnaill of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government to confirm when he will give approval to Donegal County Council to seek tenders for the construction of the Gweedore sewerage scheme in County Donegal.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment and they will be taken at the conclusion of business.
