Vol. 224 No. 3

Business of Seanad

I have notice from Senator John Kelly that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources to outline what steps are being taken to introduce post codes into Ireland.

I have also received notice from Senator Thomas Byrne of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources to outline Government policy with regard to the placing of giant wind turbines close to residences and urban and village areas.

I have also received notice from Senator Trevor Ó Clochartaigh of the following matter:

Go dtabharfaidh an tAire Gaeltachta le fios cén uair atá i gceist aige na suirbhéanna agus na h-aighneachtaí maidir leis an athbhreithniú ar Acht na dTeangacha Oifigiula a fhoilsiú, cén uair an mbeidh na cinn bille ar fáil agus cén fáth an bhfuil an oiread moille leis seo.

I have also received notice from Senator Lorraine Higgins of the following matter:

To ask the Minister for Education and Skills if he will consider implementing a policy whereby suicide prevention and awareness, mental health and anti-bullying contact numbers will be printed on school books or in student journals as a means of assisting in ensuring the health, safety and well-being of schoolgoing teenagers.

I have also received notice from Senator Averil Power of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport to ensure the Government will proactively endorse the bid to host the 2018 Gay Games in Limerick, given that the games would be worth up to €80 million to the city and Ireland more generally and that the alternative bids from London and Paris have been officially endorsed by David Cameron and François Hollande; and if he will ensure the Government provides every possible support for the site visit of the Federation of Gay Games from 1 to 5 July 2013.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected the matters raised by Senators John Kelly, Thomas Byrne, Trevor Ó Clochartaigh and Lorraine Higgins as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senator Averil Power may give notice on another day of the matter she wishes to raise.
