Vol. 227 No. 10

Business of Seanad

I have received notice from Senator Thomas Byrne that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Finance to outline the role of KfW Entwicklungsbank in the Irish economy and, in connection with the future sovereign funding needs of Ireland, the terms of any agreement with any party or state in relation to the role of KfW.

I have also received notice from Senator Lorraine Higgins of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government to clarify the provision in the Local Government Bill 2013 regarding rates retention by a local authority; and if he will devolve responsibility to a local authority to make the decision on the potential for the application of rates on closed buildings.

I have also received notice from Senator Marie Moloney of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government to give an update on the application by Kerry County Council for the provision of a sewerage scheme in Kilcummin, County Kerry.

I have also received notice from Senator Martin Conway of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice and Equality to consider implementing an Oireachtas Members' visiting programme for direct provision centres in order that Oireachtas Members can visit the centres without prior notice on production of relevant identification material.

I have also received notice from Senator Mark Daly of the following matter:

To ask the Minister for Health to clarify the number of paediatric tracheostomy patients in Ireland by county and the number of registered paediatric nurses who have been assessed and deemed competent as per the ABA guidelines 2000 to nurse these children in their homes; and to outline who regulates this process.

I have also received notice from Senator Fidelma Healy Eames of the following matter:

To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, in view of the intrinsic local and national value of Renmore Gymnastics Club, County Galway, to outline the best way forward to achieve funding success in the light of its recent unsuccessful grant application.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected the matters raised by Senators Thomas Byrne, Lorraine Higgins, Marie Moloney and Martin Conway and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Mark Daly and Fidelma Healy Eames may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
