Business of Seanad

I have received notice from Senator Trevor Ó Clochartaigh that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade to make a statement on the Government's policy of allowing foreign armies to use Shannon Airport, a civilian airport, for stopovers while on their way to wage war and also aeroplanes suspected of being involved in extraordinary rendition.

I have also received notice from Senator Marie Moloney of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Social Protection to advise the reason her Department has refused to deduct at source the 2014 local property tax from the widow's contributory pension and the plans she has to address this anomaly; and if she will confirm that no penalties will be imposed on those who indicated payment of the local property tax via this method.

I have also received notice from Senator Michael D'Arcy of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine to outline his views of the health and safety aspects of slatted slurry storage tanks.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment and they will be taken at the conclusion of business.
