European Small Claims Procedure: Referral to Joint Committee

I move:

That the proposal that Seanad Éireann approves the exercise by the State of the option or discretion under Protocol No. 21 on the position of the United Kingdom and Ireland in respect of the area of freedom, security and justice annexed to the Treaty on European Union and to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, to take part in the adoption and application of the following proposed measure:

a proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council amending Regulation (EC) No. 861/2007 of the European Parliament and the Council of 11th July, 2007 establishing a European Small Claims Procedure and Regulation (EC) No. 1896/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 12th December, 2006 creating a European order for payment procedure,

a copy of which was laid before Seanad Éireann on 27th November, 2013, be referred to the Joint Committee on Justice, Defence and Equality, in accordance with Standing Order 70A(3)(j), which, not later than 6th February, 2014, shall send a message to the Seanad in the manner prescribed in Standing Order 73, and Standing Order 75(2) shall accordingly apply.”.
