Business of Seanad

I have received notice 1from Senator Catherine Noone that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, she proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice and Equality to make a statement, in the light of the proven effectiveness of crime prevention text alerts in both urban and rural trials, on whether consideration could be given to a centralised grant fund to allow residents' associations and communities to begin their own crime prevention text alert trials.

I have also received notice from Senator Thomas Byrne of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to update the House on negotiations to progress a regional hospital in Navan.

I have also received notice from Senator Martin Conway of the following matter:
The need for the Minister for Education and Skills to revisit the decision to reject an appeal by Labasheeda national school, Labasheeda, County Clare, to retain the school's second teacher.
I have also received notice from Senator Paul Bradford of the following matter:
The need for the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade to ensure a much stronger response from Ireland and the European to the deteriorating situation in Ukraine.
I have also received notice from Senator Mary Moran of the following matter:
The need for the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government to address and provide an update on the proposed closure of the Women's Aid refuge in Dundalk in June, which will result in no women's refuge for the counties of Louth, Monaghan and Cavan.
I have also received notice from Senator Fidelma Healy Eames of the following matter:
The need for the Minister for Finance to outline the rationale for and to initiate negotiations towards a credit union bond.
I regard the matters raised by Senators Catherine Noone, Thomas Byrne, Martin Conway, Paul Bradford and Fidelma Healy Eames as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected the matters raised by Senators Catherine Noone, Thomas Byrne, Martin Conway and Paul Bradford and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senator Fidelma Healy Eames may give notice on another day of the matter she wishes to raise. I regret that I have had to rule out of order the matter raised by Senator Mary Moran, as the Minister has no official responsibility in the matter.
