Vol. 235 No. 8

Business of Seanad

I have received notice from Senator John Crown that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to engage with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland and the three nursing unions, the INMO, SIPTU and the PNA, to ensure the nurses’ retention fee is kept at an acceptable level.

I have also received notice from Senator Mary Ann O'Brien of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health, in the light of the fact that planning permission will not be sought for a maternity hospital at the same time as for the new national children's hospital, to clarify when an application for planning permission will be submitted for a maternity hospital.

I have also received notice from Senator Lorraine Higgins of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to state if he will review the policy not to fund Home-Start services in the Athenry area in the light of improved Exchequer returns.

I have also received notice from Senator Trevor Ó Clochartaigh of the following matter:

An gá atá ann go ndéanfaidh an tAire Oideachais agus Scileanna cur síos ar an dul chun cinn atá déanta aici maidir le foirgneamh scoile nua a chur ar fáil do Ghaelscoil Riabhach i mBaile Locha Riach, Contae na Gaillimhe.

I have also received notice from Senator Colm Burke of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government to clarify the current position on funding for the regeneration programme in Knocknaheeny, County Cork and, in particular, if funding will be provided for completion of phases 2A, 2B and 3 in 2015.

I have also received notice from Senator Fidelma Healy Eames of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine to outline the progress made by him for beef farmers and his plans to open up live exports in order to give farmers another outlet for beef rather than over-dependence on meat processors.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected the matters raised by Senators John Crown, Mary Ann O’Brien, Lorraine Higgins and Trevor Ó Clochartaigh and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Colm Burke and Fidelma Healy Eames may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
