Vol. 236 No. 8

Business of Seanad

I have notice from Senator Marie Moloney that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, she proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport to address the issue of young people living in rural areas who, in the absence of public transport, are dependent on a car to get to work and who are unable to drive alone as learner drivers.

I have also received notice from Senator Trevor Ó Clochartaigh of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs to make a statement regarding ongoing funding for the Aonad Resource Centre in Ballygar, County Galway.

I have also received notice from Senator Michael Comiskey of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine to outline the measures being put in place to prevent the use of performance enhancing drugs in greyhound racing and to immediately implement extensive regulatory control in these matters in light of the Indecon report into the greyhound industry in 2014.

I have also received notice from Senator Martin Conway of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Skills to comment on the discontinuation of the higher certificate in business computing level 6 course by Limerick Institute of Technology in the Ennis Museum, County Clare.

I have also received notice from Senator David Cullinane of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to outline plans to build a palliative care unit in Waterford, the level of State funding committed, the overall cost of the project, whether provision is being made to provide additional staffing resources and the timeframe from the initial build to the unit becoming operational.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected the matters raised by Senators Moloney, Ó Clochartaigh, Comiskey and Conway and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senator Cullinane may give notice on another day of the matter he wishes to raise.
