Question declared carried.

Senator Gerard P. Craughwell wishes to raise a point of order.

A comment was made about teachers. As a former president of a teachers' union, I ask the Senator who made the comment to state categorically that she was not referring to me.

The Senator made a general statement. No Senator was named in the House, as the Official Report will show. There are a number of other teachers in the Seanad.

I am also a teacher and I am not in the least offended.

Senator Gerard P. Craughwell was not named.

The Cathaoirleach has ruled on many occasions that a person does not have to be named to be identified.

The person must be identified.

Senator Gerard P. Craughwell was the only teacher to speak.

A general statement was made and no one was identified. I have always ruled that people should not be named in the House.

The intention was to identify.

Nobody was identified in the House.

The speaker tried to identify a Senator without naming anyone, which is the same as identifying him.

On a point of order, I believe the comment was directed at Senator Gerard P. Craughwell. As a former teacher, it could not have been directed at me because I praised the green flag scheme which Senator Cáit Keane knocked.

It was not directed at anyone. Senator Fidelma Healy Eames should resume her seat.

I propose that the House adjourn until noon on Monday.

Some of the Senators on the Government side had too much of the teachers or perhaps it was Teacher's this evening.

I pay tribute to the Oireachtas and departmental staff for showing good grace in supporting Senators in making legislation.

Does the Leader wish to formally move the motion?
