Vol. 248 No. 6

Business of Seanad

I have received notice from Senator Tim Lombard that, on the motion for the Commencement of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government to create specific national guidelines pertaining to solar farms to help local authorities deal consistently with applications.

I have also received notice from Senator Aidan Davitt of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government to address the Seanad on the serious issue of serial objectors delaying planning permission applications across Ireland.

I have also received notice from Senator Robbie Gallagher of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine to provide immediately a special support package through the Common Agricultural Policy market support measures to the affected providers in the Irish mushroom industry for whom the decision of the United Kingdom to leave the European Union has had an immediate and negative economic impact.

I have also received notice from Senator John O’Mahony of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport to set out the timeline for the next round of sports capital funding.

I have also received notice from Senator Colm Burke of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to confirm that the recommendations set out in the report of the investigation into the safety, quality and standards of services provided by the Health Service Executive to patients in the Midland Regional Hospital, Portlaoise, have been implemented and, in particular, in respect of the appointment of a director of midwifery in each of the 19 maternity hospitals throughout the country.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion. I have selected the matters raised by Senators Lombard, Davitt, Gallagher and O’Mahony and they will be taken now. Senator Colm Burke may give notice on another day of the matter he wishes to raise.
