Vol. 249 No. 15

Business of Seanad

I have received notice from Senator Robbie Gallagher that, on the motion for the Commencement of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport to provide sufficient funding to complete phase 3 of the Monaghan to Emyvale road project - the N2 national primary road from Dublin to Derry - in the interests of road safety.

I have also received notice from Senator Colm Burke of the following matter:

The need for the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and Equality to clarify the current position on the building of a new Garda station in Glanmire, County Cork, as the site has been available for six years and no action has been taken to date.

I have also received notice from Senator Rose Conway-Walsh of the following water:

The need for the Minister for Health to outline the measures he intends to introduce to help children with cerebral palsy who require specialised physiotherapy which is only available at the First Step Therapy Centre in Patrickswell, County Limerick.

I have also received notice from Senator John O’Mahony of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to address the continued delay in restoring the motorised transport grant.

I have also received notice from Senator Martin Conway of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment to indicate when fibre power broadband will be connected and fully functional in the Kilkee area of County Clare.

I have also received notice from Senator Fintan Warfield of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to explain Question No. 52 in the new Irish Blood Transfusion Service questionnaire on blood donation for potential donors who take medication to prevent HIV infection.

I have also received notice from Senator Catherine Noone of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Social Protection to expedite implementation of the Civil Registration (Amendment) Act 2014 which provides for a record of deaths abroad to be maintained by the General Register Office.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion. I have selected the matters raised by Senators Robbie Gallagher, Colm Burke, Rose Conway-Walsh and John O’Mahony and they will be taken now. Senators Martin Conway, Fintan Warfield and Catherine Noone may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
