Vol. 259 No. 9

Business of Seanad

Before I call Senator Kelleher, I will call on the Leader.

Can I speak to the Members in plain English? The import of our decision to amend the Order of Business again will have a repercussion on the other Bills before the House.

Such as the Judicial Appointments Commission Bill.

We know of the filibustering we have seen all week from people in some parts of the House.

The Leader will see no filibustering from me.

I include the iar-Aire in that remark. Further to the earlier amendment to the Order of Business, I propose another amendment to the Order of Business, that, notwithstanding anything in today's order in respect of this item, No. 3, statements on Palestine, the concluding time for this item be extended in order to conclude this debate at 4.30 p.m. I propose extending the time so that the item would be concluded by 4.30 p.m. so that we can have the business of the House that was already agreed. I accept that this business is very important, but to be fair there are Ministers who have commitments beyond their scheduled time here which have implications and import for other legislation.

Is that agreed? Agreed.
