Address to Seanad Éireann by Members of the European Parliament: Motion

I move:

That, in accordance with Standing Order 57(1) and the approval of the Committee on Parliamentary Privileges and Oversight, Seanad Éireann agrees that, in respect of the European Parliament South Constituency, Ms. Deirdre Clune MEP, Mr. Billy Kelleher MEP, Mr. Seán Kelly MEP, Ms. Grace O’Sullivan MEP and Mr. Mick Wallace MEP, may attend and be heard in Seanad Éireann on Wednesday, 23rd February, 2022, and that the following arrangements shall apply:

The proceedings shall commence at 2 p.m., shall not exceed two hours, and shall consist of—

(a) a speech of welcome by the Cathaoirleach;

(b) an opening address by each MEP which shall not exceed six minutes in each case;

(c) a contribution not exceeding three minutes by a spokesperson from each Group;

(d) a single response not exceeding three minutes by each MEP to the combined issues raised by the Group spokespersons;

(e) questions from all other Senators in accordance with the sequence set out in the Schedule to this resolution, which shall not exceed one minute in each case, and a reply not exceeding two minutes from each MEP;

(f) a final concluding statement of not less than four minutes by each MEP;

(g) a speech of thanks by the Leader of the House;

and the members of the European Parliament may take seats on the floor of the Seanad Chamber.
