Vol. 283 No. 2

Gnó an tSeanaid - Business of Seanad

I have received notice from Senator Aisling Dolan that, on the motion for the Commencement of the House today, she proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Foreign Affairs to make a statement on EU plans to support the people of Ukraine and the measures to be put in place to mitigate the potential impact of sanctions in relation to energy and grain costs.

I have also received notice from Senator Sharon Keogan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister of State with responsibility for Sport and the Gaeltacht to ensure fair competition across all levels of women’s sport in Ireland.

I have also received notice from Senator Erin McGreehan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications to make a statement on measures to reduce fuel poverty such as utilising surplus renewable energy on the grid.

I have also received notice from Senator Victor Boyhan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Finance to make a statement on plans for an increased role for credit unions in the mortgage market and community banking.

I have also received notice from Senator Garret Ahearn of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage to outline his vision for HR shared services in local government.

I have also received notice from Senator Malcolm Byrne of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Transport to provide an update on the planned new coastguard station at Courtown Harbour, County Wexford.

I have also received notice from Senator Tim Lombard of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Rural and Community Development to make a statement on the provision of funding for agricultural shows.

I have also received notice from Senator Fiona O’Loughlin of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage to make a statement on the regeneration of St. Patrick’s Park, Rathangan, County Kildare.

I have also received notice from Senator Emer Currie of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Finance to consider measures to address long-term commercial vacant units in areas of high demand.

Of the matters raised by Senators suitable for discussion, I have selected Senators Dolan, Keogan, McGreehan and Boyhan and they will be taken now. I regret that I had to rule out of order the matter raised by Senator Currie on the ground that the Minister has no official responsibility in the matter. The other Senators may give notice on another day of the matters that they wish to raise.
