Vol. 284 No. 6

Gnó an tSeanaid - Business of Seanad

I have received notice from Senator Eugene Murphy that, on the motion for the Commencement of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to make a statement on the provision of additional supports for students of Gaelscoileanna with special education needs.

I have also received notice from Senator Robbie Gallagher of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Transport to make a statement on funding for regional and local roads in counties Cavan and Monaghan and throughout rural Ireland.

I have also received notice from Senator Lynn Boylan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister of State with responsibility for heritage and electoral reform to make a statement on the plans for bogs in the mid-Shannon area and how this correlates with the national peatland strategy.

I have also received notice from Senator Micheál Carrigy of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage to make a statement on the need for increased powers and resources for the Residential Tenancies Board.

I have also received notice from Senator Emer Currie of the following matter:

The need for the Minister of State with responsibility for the Office of Public Works to make a statement on the Phoenix Park transport and mobility study report.

I have also received notice from Senator Fiona O'Loughlin of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Defence to provide an update on the Curragh Plains consultation process.

I have also received notice from Senator Jerry Buttimer of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to provide an update on the use of the emergency motorcycle response service in Cork city.

I have also received notice from Senator Tim Lombard of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine to make a statement on funding available for safety measures at Ardgroom pier and for small piers in County Cork.

I have also received notice from Senator Seán Kyne of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to provide an update on the status of the new emergency department at University Hospital Galway.

I have also received notice from Senators Gerard Craughwell and Mark Wall of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Defence to make a statement on the affiliation of PDFORRA and the Representative Association of Commissioned Officers to the Irish Congress of Trade Unions.

Of the matters raised by the Senators that are suitable for discussion, I have selected Senators Murphy, Gallagher, Boylan, Carrigy, Currie and O’Loughlin and they will be taken now. I regret that I have had to rule out of order the matter raised by Senator Buttimer on the grounds that it is a repeat of the Commencement matter raised on 14 December 2021. I regret that I also have had to rule out of order the matter raised by Senators Craughwell and Wall on the grounds that the matter is sub judice. The other Senators may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
