Vol. 286 No. 9

Gnó an tSeanaid - Business of Seanad

Dia daoibh, a chairde. I have received notice from Senator Victor Boyhan that, on the motion for the Commencement of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister of State with responsibility for planning and local government to make a statement on increasing the participation of women and diversity in local government, including the funding to facilitate this participation.

I have also received notice from Senator Paul Gavan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to make a statement on the European Commission’s call on Ireland to comply with EU rules under the Directive on European Works Councils.

I have also received notice from Senator Seán Kyne of the following matter:

The need for the Minister of State with responsibility for the Office of Public Works to make a statement on the plans to erect a statue in Dublin to General Michael Collins and to others as part of the decade of centenaries.

I have also received notice from Senator Lynn Boylan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment, Climate, and Communications to make a statement on the proposed new demand-side strategy.

I have also received notice from Senator Martin Conway of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to make a statement on the roll-out of the second Covid-19 booster to all those with lifelong immunocompromised conditions, in particular diabetes.

I have also received notice from Senator Regina Doherty of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media to provide an update on swimming pools in Fingal.

I have also received notice from Senator Maria Byrne of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Social Protection to make a statement on the current youth unemployment rate and steps being taken to help young people into the workforce.

I have also received notice from Senator Rebecca Moynihan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Transport to make a statement on the issue of inaccurate real-time information being displayed at bus stops, including a bus failing to arrive in Chapelizod.

Of the matters raised by Senators suitable for discussion, I have selected Senators Boyhan, Gavan, Kyne, Boylan, Conway and Doherty and they will be taken now.

I regret I had to rule out of order the matter raised by Senator Moynihan on the ground that the Minister of State has no official responsibility in the matter. Senator Byrne may give notice on another day of the matter which she has raised.
