SECTION 43

Question proposed: "That section 43 stand part of the Bill".

I have a question with regard to the controversial issue of fees in terms of liquidation of firms and companies under the Companies Act. Liquidation has been a lucrative profession for the receivers through the years. Has the Minister any power to control the fees of receivers in this context? The same applies in the beef tribunal and other liquidation procedures to which I could refer.

The Minister can set the fee in conjunction with the Minister for Finance.

I hope they can be set in terms that the ordinary person can relate to and that astronomical fees will not be paid.

Question put and agreed to.
