Fisheries (Amendment) Bill, 1994: Committee Stage.

The purpose of the Bill is to amend the law on the licensing and registration of fishing boats; strengthen procedures for the detention of fishing boats and the seizure of fish and fishing engines where an offence is suspected; provide for increased penalties for fisheries offences; provide for a statutory requirement to furnish information relating to catching or sale of fish; simplify arrangements relating to rates levied on private fisheries; and place certain controls on fishing, sale and possession of eels. It should be noted that in addition to the Minister for the Marine the following Deputies have put down amendments: Deputies P. J. Sheehan and Bobby Molloy. Has anybody views regarding a sos, or whether we should break for lunch?

We will be finished by lunchtime.
