SELECT COMMITTEE ON ENTERPRISE AND SMALL BUSINESS debate -
Tuesday, 15 Feb 2000

Vol. 3 No. 5

Business of Select Committee.

I welcome the Minister and his officials, Mr. Jack Thompson, Mr. John Rutledge and Ms Patricia Phillips. It is proposed that we work from now until about 3.45 p.m. Is that agreed? Agreed.

At our last meeting I circulated a number of suitable dates and times to consider the Bill. It was proposed that we meet at 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, 17 February. It has now been suggested that to accommodate one of the members we change that to 2.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. Is that agreed? Agreed. I remind members that next week's schedule for the Bill is 5.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. on Tuesday, 22 February and at 5.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. on Wednesday, 23 February. We will review progress at that stage.

Members have been circulated with a copy of the letter from the British and Irish Association of Librarians to the Minister of State, Deputy Tom Kitt, dated 8 February. The letter, which has been copied for the information of the committee, supports the work of the ad hoc group of librarians who have previously provided observation on the Bill and is noted accordingly. I hope there will not be a surcharge for copying that under the Bill.
