SECTION 60.

Acting Chairman

Amendments Nos. 213 and 214 are consequential on amendment No. 215 and may be discussed together. Is that agreed? Agreed.

I move amendment No. 213:

In page 44, subsection (2) (j), line 37, to delete "and".

Under section 60 the Minister may make regulations to provide for the disclosure of donations by members of local authorities and candidates at local elections and for the limitation of expenses on behalf of candidates in political parties at such elections. It is an enabling section to allow a regime similar to the disclosure and refunding mechanism available in the Bill for Dáil elections to be replicated at local level. We will do that by regulation rather than teasing out the minutiae in the Bill.

Amendment agreed to.

I move amendment No. 214:

In page 44, subsection (2) (k), line 38, to delete "documents." and substitute "documents; and".

Amendment agreed to.

I move amendment No. 215:

In page 44, subsection (2), between lines 38 and 39, to insert the following:

"(1) provisions corresponding to sections 22 and 37 with such modifications as appear to the Minister to be appropriate.".

Amendment agreed to.

I move amendment No. 216:

In page 45, subsection (7), line 26, after "means a" to insert "political".

Amendment agreed to.
